The need for therapeutic support

The most enduring consequences of sexual exploitation are psychological. The psychological impact of sexual exploitation can be significant and wide-ranging, with many survivors experiencing severe anxiety, depression, flashbacks, PTSD, low self-esteem and relationship difficulties on a daily basis as a result of their traumatic experiences. Access to counselling services can be difficult, with very few specialist therapeutic services out there and very long waiting lists.
